What's remarkable is that 24 still finds so many ways to surprise us.
January 14, 2007
It's clear that all that has made 24 so huge and deserved a success is on display again in these first smashing episodes.
January 14, 2007
Everything is top-notch in this season premiere -- excellent character development, a pulse-pounding action scene, and a couple great twists.
January 14, 2007
24 still maintains some of its trademark intensity, but too often in these first four hours, the show is smack-your-forehead laughable.
January 14, 2007
The nastier things get, the more we love it and dread that moment when the clock strikes a new hour, signaling the episode is over.
January 14, 2007
24 continues to do everything right.
January 14, 2007
24 provides the best of both worlds -- thrilling escapism that invites you to check your brain at the door, and events that can be contemplated, off and on, until the train boards again 167 hours later.
January 14, 2007
As Jack Bauer wards off apocalypse after apocalypse, the action is as lean-forward-in-your-chair riveting as it is ridiculous, as much a contemporary-anxiety nightmare as a cliff-hanging comic book.
January 14, 2007
All that remains is to see if 24 can build upon the tension and unbelievable moments making Sunday and Monday night's four-hour premiere the rocket-fueled thiller that it is.

If all this sounds like 24 has been hijacked by public policy wonks or Shakespeare profs, don't worry. Your show very much remains your show.... It's just that your show got a little smarter.
