Matt LeBlanc does a perfectly good job as the main host, but with a script that doubles down on stagey banter. The films are as beautifully shot as ever but padded with self-conscious sight gags;.

It's the same mixture as before: car porn and some fairly pointless stunts in beautiful locations, expensively shot, and all garnished with some of the most stunning cliches ever conceived by journalistic man.

This was Top Gear on autopilot and Top Gear on autopilot is exactly what many viewers will have wished for. No longer encumbered by the need to impress anyone, the departing LeBlanc was a sitcom icon reborn.
